Americano

Americano

TOTAL TIME: 2 minutes

MAKES: 1 drink

Created by Gaspare Campari, who served it at his Café Campari in Milan, the Americano was originally called the Milano-Torino after the place of origin of its two main ingredients: Campari from Milan and Cinzano from Turin. But when it became popular among American tourists who came through Milan, it was renamed the Americano as a tribute.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Cinzano Rosso sweet vermouth
  • Club soda
  • 1 orange slice

Instructions

Fill a double rocks or highball glass halfway with ice. Add Campari and vermouth. Top with soda to taste and garnish with orange slice.
