Wine Bargain !!!
We were shopping at Trader Joes a few weeks ago when we came upon a display of Sangiovese (2010) for $2.69 a bottle. Being the wine snob that I am I said that, at this price, the wine could be good only for poaching a chicken or braising a tough cut of beef. Curious, I purchased a couple of bottles. I opened one when I got home, fully prepared to dump it and open another bottle of good wine after this "cheap stuff". What to my surprise !! I tasted one of the best Chiantis I have ever had. Excellent !! Round, soft, lots of fruit. Yummy !! Needless to say I broke the speed limits to get back Trader Joes to buy several cases. I don't know how this came about.....maybe over production or grapes from outside of Chianti ???? I also don't know how this will age ...but no fear it will not last long in our house. If you have a chance this is a REAL BARGAIN.

Thanks for the tip. I live in Connecticut where our crazy liquor laws prohibit Trader Joe's from selling wine. But if I ever am in a more reasonable state, I'll give it a try.
