Looking for restaurants in Venice
We are staying near St. Marks Square. Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants in Venice that are close to Vaparetto stops - my husband is handicapped and cannot walk to far. Thanks!!

Do you get the Travel channel?? Anthony Bourdain has a show, No Reservations, whereone of his trips is to Venice. He visits restaurants.

St. Marks is the place to avoid: too many tourists ready to eat almost anything. I wonder, though, whether Venice is a good place for your husband to visit. There are bridges everywhere, all calling for a climb and many with steep steps, which may, depending on his condition, add another limitation to distance in how far you will be able to go from a vaparetto stop. Not knowing how far he can walk, let me simply recommend that you explore Venice vaporetto stop by vaporetto stop, getting off the main streets (the crowded ones) to look for restaurants, noting if possible those where Italians are eating. You should not be disappointed.

If he cannot walk too far from a vaparetto stop, then I would suggest staying on it and go around to the bay sides away from the tourist stops.

One of our favorites in Venice is al pesador near the Rialo Brigde. If you take the vaparetto to Rialto Mercato, it is steps away. You can dine inside or outside on the Canal.
